Light work runs on your own device. For contributing accounts, bigger tasks route to the nearest network peer that already has a stronger model loaded, and the largest models run sharded across fast clusters.

The network is made of the machines on it, so it answers for the people lending them. Share spare compute on a Mac or Windows machine - idle, plugged in, within your limits - and network capacity opens up for your account, on every device you use Benji from.
A fair exchange
Benji’s network capacity comes from people’s spare compute, so it goes to the accounts that share some. Contribute on a desktop and the network is open to you everywhere. Don’t, and Benji still runs open models on your own device and still uses the accounts you connect.
Contribute on one machine
A desktop that shares spare compute is what puts capacity into the network. Set your own limits - only while idle, only while plugged in, capped storage and bandwidth - and pause whenever you like.
Use Benji anywhere
Standing belongs to your account, not to one device. Contribute on your Mac or Windows machine and the network answers you from your laptop, your phone, wherever you're signed in. Phones are never asked to contribute; they can't run a node.
Not contributing is fine too
Benji still runs open models locally on your device, and still uses any Claude or OpenAI account you connect - those are yours and are never limited. What waits for contribution is the shared network capacity other people are paying for in electricity.
Contributing is a desktop job - only a Mac or Windows machine can serve work in the background - but the benefit is not. It follows your account to every device you use Benji on.
